Meet House Nominees Amine Edge & DANCE

What’s your playlist look like when you’re flying to a gig?

Amine Edge: I have my own personal playlists on Spotify, mainly Hip Hop and R&B, I like to keep the music I play in gigs, for the gigs,to keep my excitement intact.

DANCE: When I’m flying I like to listen to some old school R&B like Joe Jaheim, Donnell Jones etc… it’s like a drug, it makes me feel good.

What is the last artist that you discovered?

Amine Edge: We receive a lot of music from a lot of diffent producers everyday, recently Elliot Adamson, Ben Hauke, Daddy Dino, BAL, Adalberto, Yungness & Jaminn, are some of the artists that I’ve discovered and I play many of their tracks often.

DANCE: His name is Dpat, he’s one of the producers of the group Sonder, with Brent Fayaz. I just found out that he released a solo project. It’s called “Left Unsaid” it’s all that I like in music. So good.

What’s your favorite wind-down spot in Ibiza?

Amine Edge: Anywhere where it’s calm and not busy, I’m not staying much in Ibiza, most of the time I go back and forth, as I love to stay in my house in the South of France, by the pool, make music and cook. Ibiza is a bit too hectic and everything is very expensive, so I just stay for my gig and go home.

DANCE: Ibiza is like my 2nd home, I love to spend time there. To be honest, I don’t really go to some wind-down spot. I just always party haha. Something I like to do is to take a drink with my friends on the beach in Playa Dén Bossa.

Can you tell us one thing that no one knows about you?

Amine Edge: I’m a nice person lol, no jokes tho’, that’s a discussion that I have often and people don’t believe me. I never drank orsmoked or took drugs ever!

DANCE: Because I drink a lot, I’m very focus on my nutrition. I eat very healthy, I’m crazy about vegetables & fruits. I almost never eat pizza or burgers.

What is the first vinyl/CD/Track you bought?

Amine Edge: I think my first CD was “400hz – I’ve Got The Music In Me” and my first vinyl was “CJ Boland – Sugar Is Sweeter”

DANCE: It was the album (CD) “Michael Jackson – Dangerous” in 1992. I was 9 years old.

Do you have a 2019 Track of the Season?

Amine Edge: If we talk about a dance floor killer that works all the time and might destroy every club we play this summer I would say “Husko – Stop”

DANCE: I’ll say “Clapcash – Funky Swing” (Amine Edge & DANCE Edit) this track is sick, there is sample of Zhané that I love so much

Is there a track you’ve always wanted to remix?

Amine Edge: Basically when I want to remix a track I just do it, but if you mean officially, yeah definitely Sade, Loleatta Holloway, First Choice, all those big soul and disco songs.

DANCE: To be fair, my dream is to remix all the R&B tracks from the 90’s. There are so many that I wanna do.

You always wanted to do a back to back with…?

Amine Edge: Armand Van Helden, because he was my biggest influence and the reason why I’m a DJ. Carl Cox of course, because he is a chameleon and can go in any direction and that would be incredible to follow him. Loco Dice just to show him who’s the boss, (just kidding he is my brother and we always mess around with each other haha)!

DANCE: For me, the best b2b are with all my bro’s from France like Clyde P, Tim Baresko, Chicks Luv Us, Syap, Loran. We do that very often, we get along really well.

Apart from music, what is your hobby?

Amine Edge: Bowling, I’ve been crazy in love with bowling for 2 years now and I’m getting really good! I love to cook when I have time as well and I hope in the future I will have time to grow my own plant based food for a better life.

DANCE: Music is my whole life, I don’t have any other hobby, I produce music all the time and when I don’t, I listen to music. I´maddicted. Otherwise I like to go out and get a drink with my friends, but I don’t know if I can call that a hobby lol.

Favorite movie, tv show or Netflix soundtrack?

Amine Edge: The Matrix one by Rob Dougan back in the day was something incredible. More recently the Compton soundtrack by Dr. Dre is unbelievable and that´s where I discovered “Andreson Paak”, I’m a huge fan now. Transpotting of course with music fromUnderworld was the shit back then.

DANCE: The soundtrack from the movie “Belly” with Nas & DMX. Pure classic!

The first memory you have of music is…

Amine Edge: My older sister giving me the K7 album of Technotronic. Best gift I ever had. I was around 10.

DANCE: I remember the first time l listened to “IAM – Je danse le Mia” I was 10 and it made me fall in love with Rap music.

You’re a secret fan of…

Amine Edge: Thunderdome compilations, I like hardcore but no one knows it, it was one of my teenage crushes!

DANCE: Justin Bieber, he’s actually such a good singer, he’s very talented and I love his voice

Could you give us a DJ Tip for Newcomer DJs?

Amine Edge: Don’t ever listen to anyone’s opinion about your music, your parents telling you to quit to do the same crap job as them, don’t listen to them, do your thing, do it 100% no matter what, if you give up, you lose, if you keep working hard you’ll make it, it’s proven.

DANCE: Work your ass off, be patient, never give up, stay focused, don’t be jealous about other successful people. It will be your turn soon.
