Founded in 1998, DJ Awards launched during a time when the “Disc Jockey” began to have relevance never before seen. The electronic music landscape was changing fast and Ibiza was the catalyst.

Jose Pascual, closely linked to the night scene of the white island, is no stranger to these changes and he decided to launch the DJ Awards, a non-profit organisation that recognises the work, talent and originality of this new breed of musical artists. This was the start of the electronic music awards, whose transcendence is cooler and more internationally current than ever, 20 years later. Thus begins a new stage of the DJ Awards.

Since opening its doors for the first time in May 2017, new Ibiza superclub Hï Ibiza has become one of the most talked-about club of the year. Formerly known as Space, the state-of-the-art venue has been completely transformed with a spectacular new look and the most advanced sound and technologies on the island. This summer saw the club present a series of high profile residencies which showcase the most exciting names in electronic music today, including Armin van Buuren, Black Coffee, Eric Prydz, Glitterbox, Hardwell, Joris Voorn, Kölsch, Luciano, Oliver Heldens, Nic Fanciulli, Martin Garrix, Steve Lawler and more.

José Pascual comments “thanks to everyone who has made these 20 years possible, especially Lenny Krarup, Pacha, all the artists, managers, promoters, sponsors and media who have supported us. Jasmine Elias and the DJ Awards team, past and present, for all their support, energy and passion to keep the awards alive”

Yann Pissenem CEO of Ushuaia Entertainment adds “Over the last 20 years the DJ Awards has become one of the most important award ceremonies in our industry celebrating all the hard work that takes place each year in Ibiza. We are proud to be able to host this event at our newest venue Hï Ibiza and we look forward to welcoming you all on the 26th September.”
